Meditations for the City aim at passers by. Invite to stop, to breathe, to calm yourself. Nature-inspired visuals and improvised (sometimes live) music. Street art without destruction, ephemeral, disappearing.

Within CTM's and Transmediale's Vorspiel program, building on the street-based practice, I prepared a live meditiation-performance setup which premiered on the 30th of January at Das Baumhaus. Three meditations with live bass harmonica improvisation on top of pre-recorded instrumental tracks.

Guided Breathing is a piece where music and visuals are synced to the rhythm of diaphragm breathing method (5–8) that calms the nervous system. 3D Scans of real trees made all across Europe are 'breathing' with the audience. Additional hints in the video guide reflection on the Signals that were picked at random at the entrance. Signals were calligraphed prompts like spontaneity, forgiveness, joy etc.
On Interdependece deals with the topic of systems that surround us, either societal, economic, environmental or cosmic. In this four-channel video piece every video affects every other video, nothing exists only on its own. Videos are 3D scans of trees and various video recordings of natural origin.
On passing is inspired by a simple meditation technique where to clear one's mind, one should only observe thoughts and feelings passing by, without engaging with any for a longer time. Video material are mostly on-the-road recordings from trains, kayaks, public transport, planes and cloud videos.
I would like to thank Ioanna Tsesmetzi for her ongoing support and video recordings of the performance.
